Job Hunting & Business Manners Seminar

The JET Alumni Association Western Japan (JETAAWJ) will be hosting a two-day job hunting and business manners seminar in Osaka with Mori Kosan Co., Ltd., a firm that supports foreigners seeking employment in Japan. The seminar will be from 9:00 to 17:00 on May 12 (Sat.) and 13 (Sun.), 2018. Attendees will learn things like: how to write a Japanese-style resume, prepare for an interview, exchange business cards, answer phone calls in Japanese, etc.
The seminar participation fee is 3500 yen (includes fee for networking event).

JETAA Western Japan Officer Elections

JETAA Western Japan is looking for motivated and enthusiastic people to join the officer team! Enrich the experience JET Alumni in Western Japan by working with JETAAWJ to provide useful and fun events and information.

Positions available:
Chair
Vice-Chair
Treasurer
Secretary

If you wish to run for election for any of these positions, please send a photo of yourself and your platform to jetaawjchair@gmail.com by Wednesday 21st February. In your platform, remember to include:
1. Where and when you were a JET, and in what capacity (ALT/CIR/SEA)
2. Current location: current city, prefecture
3. Brief history: what country (city, state), college degree, etc.
4. Employment info: current employer, work industry, or previous industries
5. Why you feel you are suited for this position

After the deadline passes, we will upload applicants’ platforms and hold a vote.

Charity Networking Brunch & Officer Installation

On Sunday April 9th, JETAA Western Japan members gathered at Trente et Un at the Kobe Portopia Hotel to honor the US Consul General Allen Greenberg and Mrs. Greenberg.

Seventeen people were in attendance, including the Consul General and his wife Haruko; Jay Klaphake, founder of TEDxKyoto and TEDx Ambassador; Yoshihiro Utsumi, Executive Director of the Japan Pearl Exporters’ Association;Ryan Hata, Alumni Relations chair for AJET; and current ALT Jeff Anderson, brother of Taylor Anderson.

The 2017-2018 chapter officers were also introduced and an overview of the year’s planned events were announced.  A request was made for volunteers to help with the organization of the proposed JET Film Festival in honor of the JET Programme’s 30th anniversary.

10% of the cost of the event was donated by the restaurant to the Ashinaga Foundation which provides educational and emotional support to orphans around the world.
